Memorial Healthcare System Appoints New Chief Medical Officer June 17, 2024 Memorial Healthcare System has appointed Joseph F. Vasile, MD, MBA, as its new chief medical officer (CMO). In this role, Vasile will oversee medical affairs, quality, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and the patient experience across the healthcare system, which includes six hospitals and numerous other facilities. Vasile, who has been with Memorial Healthcare System since 2014, will assume his new responsibilities on July 1, 2024. He previously served as CMO for Memorial Hospital West in Pembroke Pines. “Dr. Vasile is an accomplished and respected physician leader with a proven track record of success,” said Aurelio M. Fernandez, III, FACHE, president and CEO of Memorial Healthcare System. “His experience and expertise will be invaluable as we continue to provide high-quality, safe, and compassionate care to our patients.” Vasile earned his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine and his MBA from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He is board certified in internal medicine and is a fellow of the American College of Physicians. As CMO, Vasile will work closely with the medical staff, hospital leadership, and other stakeholders to ensure that Memorial Healthcare System continues to provide the highest quality of care to the community.
