IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for parts of Marion, Polk, and Warren Counties until 11:30 PM CDT tonight, October 8th. Residents are advised to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building for protection.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Des Moines, IA, issued this warning at 10:57 PM CDT. A severe thunderstorm was located near Norwalk, moving southeast at 35 mph.

The primary hazard is quarter-size hail. Damage to vehicles is expected. This warning is based on radar indications.

Locations impacted include Des Moines, Indianola, Norwalk, Carlisle, Pleasantville, Southridge Mall, Des Moines International Airport, Milo, Hartford, Martensdale, Ackworth, Swan, Spring Hill, Sandyville, Lake Ahquabi State Park, and Otter Creek County Park. This also includes Interstate 35 near mile marker 60.

The warning expires at 11:30 PM CDT.
