Child Ejected in Bartow County I-75 Crash Near Emerson-Allatoona
BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. (Day.News) — A chain-reaction crash on Interstate 75 northbound at Emerson-Allatoona Road left a 7-year-old boy critically injured Monday, Sept. 12, 2025, when he was ejected from a Chevy Silverado. Bartow County officials reported the collision occurred around 4:30 p.m., with a car striking a northbound Toyota Camry. The impact propelled the Camry and a Chevy Suburban across the median, where the Suburban flipped and hit the southbound Silverado carrying the child.
The boy was airlifted to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite for treatment, while three other individuals were transported to area hospitals with undisclosed injuries. No fatalities were reported, but the crash closed multiple northbound lanes, causing major backups through Bartow County and into Cobb County. Georgia Department of Transportation cameras captured the snarled traffic extending miles south toward Cartersville.
Authorities have not released the names of those involved or determined primary fault, with a full investigation ongoing by Bartow County officials. The stretch of I-75 near Emerson-Allatoona Road, a key route linking Atlanta to Chattanooga, has seen multiple serious incidents, including a fatal tractor-trailer crash in neighboring Cobb County last April that killed two drivers. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes like U.S. 411 during peak hours.
