Pleasantville Scam Alert: Fake Municipal Invoice Fraud

Staff Writer
May 14, 2026
Scammers Target Pleasantville Residents With Fake Municipal Invoices

Scammers are sending fake invoices to Pleasantville residents and businesses who have applications before the Planning, Zoning, and Architectural Review Boards, police warn.

The fraudsters pull information from municipal websites, then create invoices that include the municipality's logo, actual board members' names, legitimate meeting dates, and application numbers. They demand large wire transfer payments and use spoofed email addresses designed to mimic official municipal domains.

The Village of Pleasantville does not request wire transfer payments for Planning, Zoning, or Architectural Review Board matters.

If you receive a suspicious invoice:

Do not send money or respond to the email address on the invoice. Contact the Building Department at (914) 769-1926 or report the incident to Pleasantville Police.
