A Heat Advisory has been issued for much of the Central Coast, urging residents to take precautions against dangerously hot conditions. The National Weather Service (NWS) Los Angeles/Oxnard CA issued the advisory today, October 5, at 2:47 PM PDT, which remains in effect until Thursday, October 8, at 8:00 PM PDT.
Temperatures are expected to range from around 90 degrees Fahrenheit near the coast to as high as 103 degrees Fahrenheit inland. Areas affected include San Luis Obispo County Inland Central Coast, San Luis Obispo County Interior Valleys, San Luis Obispo County Mountains, Santa Barbara County Inland Central Coast, Santa Lucia Mountains, Santa Ynez Valley, and Southern Salinas Valley.
These high temperatures pose a risk of heat illnesses. Residents are advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, avoid direct sun exposure, and check on relatives and neighbors.
