How Do I...? | Parkland, FL The City of Parkland Library wants to ensure that you are comfortable with the services we provide. If you have questions, please contact us through phone at 954.757.4200. How do I search the catalog? To search the library's catalog, which is the system of all the books, movies, audiobooks, and other materials that we offer, please follow the directions below: Go to the library homepage. We highly recommend that you bookmark or favorite this page for your convenience. On the homepage, click on the "Catalog and Account" tab on the left-side of the page. The Catalog and Account button will take you directly to our catalog. On the catalog screen, you will see the search bar, where you can type in the name of a material (such as a book, audiobook, movie), the name of an author, or the subject. You may also narrow your search results based on the title, author, or subject of what you are looking for by clicking on the "anywhere" button. You will see a drop-down menu with radio buttons for anywhere, title, author, and subject. Once you search for a material, the results will be shown to you. How do I access my account? To access the account you created when you registered for a library card, please follow the directions below: Access the catalog site by going to the library homepage at cityofparkland.org/library. Click on the "Catalog and Account" button. Once you are at the catalog site, look at the top part of the page where the library's name, address, and number are printed. Below this information, you will two blue buttons: "sign in" and "my account" Click "sign in" and fill in your login name and password. Your login name is your unique library card number that starts with either an A, C, or N (the letter is included in the number). Your password is the last four digits of the phone number you used to create the account. If you do not remember the phone number you used, please call the library at 954.757.4200 and we will retrieve it for you. Now that you are logged in, you can see your profile with "my account." How do I renew items? To renew an item such as a book or movie, you can either call the library and state your request or do it yourself on the catalog site. Please see the renewal conditions to learn more about how renewals work. You cannot renew online items such as eBooks. Access your library account on the catalog site. See the instructions above to learn how to access your account. Go to my account and scroll down to "current transactions," where you will see all the items you have checked out. Click "renew" next to the item you wish to renew. If the library material is due that day or overdue call the library to renew. Library materials with reserves on it will not be renewed. How do I reserve items? To reserve an item such as a book or movie, you can either call the library and state your request or do it yourself on the catalog site. Access your library account on the catalog site. See the instructions above to learn how to access your account. Search the catalog for the item you want to reserve. Once you find the item, click on its title. You will see a new screen with details about the item. You may also see that there is more than one item in stock. Click the small box to the left of the item's location. The box is found in the white row, not the grey one. Once you click the box, a check (tick mark) should appear. You will see an orange button below that says "Reserve." Click "Reserve" to reserve the items that you selected. Repeat this process to reserve other items. To check the items you put on hold, go to "my account." How do I download eBooks, movies, and other online items? The Parkland Library provides access to thousands of eBooks, audiobooks, movies, music, recordings, TV shows, comics, and more. Your library card gives you access to the two of our largest electronic libraries - Hoopla Digital and cloudLibrary. To access Hoopla Digital or cloudLibrary, you must set up an account. You will need the following: Your unique library card number found on the back of your library card and beginning with either an "A" or a "C") Your pin number, which is the last four digits of the phone number you used to set up the account. An email address You can download the Hoopla Digital or cloudLibrary app to your smart device. You can search their catalogs for an item of interest and download it. Please make sure that you have enough storage on your smart device. Learn more about our eBook and other online services. How do I get to the library? We openly welcome everyone to come to the library. Below are some directions to help you find it. Our address is 6620 N. University Drive, Parkland, Florida 33067. The Parkland Library is inside the City of Parkland Municipal Complex, found at the intersection of N. University Drive and Holmberg Road. From the entrance to the complex, make the first right and pass by City Hall. The library is the building next to City Hall. How do I find a new book to read? If you are not sure what you want to read next, we have a Readers' Advisory Center that provides a list of helpful links that will help you find a new book.
EBook & Technology Services Welcome. Below, you will find eBook streaming services. You are welcome to read about them and explore them. Two of these eBook databases, HooplaDigital and Cloud Library, can be accessed with your Parkland Library card. Follow the directions below to create an account with Cloud Library or HooplaDigital using your library card number to get started. HooplaDigital and Cloud Library have thousands of eBooks, audiobooks, movies, TV shows, music, recordings, and comics. Enjoy. HooplaDigital HooplaDigital allows you to borrow audiobooks, eBooks, music, movies, television shows, and comics. You can download the HooplaDigital app on your mobile device, tablet, or computer. To set up an account, click "Get Started" on the HooplaDigital homepage. You will need the following information: Your library card number, which is found on the back of your library card Your pin number, which is the last four digits of the phone number you used to set up your library card Click the title above or the logo to the left to go to the HooplaDigital site. CloudLibrary With cloudLibrary, you can browse, borrow, and read eBooks using your Parkland Library card. Download the app for your mobile device, tablet, or computer. To set up an account, you need the following information: Your library card number, which is found on the back of your library card Your pin number, which is the last four digits of the phone number you used to set up your library card. Click the title above or the logo to the left to go to the cloudLibrary site. Project Gutenberg Project Gutenberg is free service that offers over 54,000 eBooks that can be accessed on mobile devices, tablets, and computers. No registration is necessary. Click the title above or the logo to the left to go to the Project Gutenberg site. Open Library This site is a massive catalog that displays all books offered in libraries throughout the world. By setting up a free account, you may access thousands of eBooks. Please note, however, that not all books listed in the site's catalog are accessible books. Click the title above or the logo to the left to go to the Open Library site. Lit2Go Offered by the Educational Technology Clearinghouse of the University of South Florida, Lit2Go provides free access to eBooks and to audiobooks. The audiobooks may be downloaded as an MP3. Click the title above or the logo to the left to go to the Lit2Go site.
Encyclopedia Britannica Database The Parkland Library now has Britannica Library access available for library patrons. Britannica Library is the go-to reference resource for all ages. With three sites in one, patrons can conduct research, work on special projects, or explore their unique interests. Trust Britannica Library as a reliable source with objective, fact-check, and unbiased content that is written by experts and vetted through rigorous editorial process. Users can switch between three reading levels on each article, listen to article read aloud, and use Merriam-Webster's double click dictionary to learn definitions and hear pronunciations. Articles can also be translated into over 80 languages. Children Level For young learners Britannica Library Children is the perfect place to find unique and safe content that empowers younger users to ignite curiosity and discovery. Young Adult Level For older children & young adults Britannica Library Young Adult encourages independent learning with access to multimedia content and the ability to toggle between reading levels. Reference Center For adults Britannica Library Reference Center allows users to easily conduct fact-checked research from continually updated encyclopedia articles. To start using Britannica Library at home click the any of the links below and log on with your Parkland Library card number by entering the capital letter followed by the number.
