Strong Thunderstorms Impacting Yuma and Imperial Valley
A Special Weather Statement is in effect for Yuma and Imperial Valley until 10:15 PM UTC, warning of strong thunderstorms with wind gusts up to 40 mph and potential flash flooding. Do not drive through flooded roadways.
Residents in Parker Valley, Kofa, Yuma, Chuckwalla Mountains, Imperial County Southeast, Imperial Valley, and Palo Verde Valley are advised to monitor weather conditions closely as a Special Weather Statement has been issued by the National Weather Service Phoenix AZ.
As of 9:41 PM PDT /9:41 PM MST/ on October 10, 2026, Doppler radar indicated a line of strong thunderstorms extending from 8 miles south of Holtville to near Andrade, and from 9 miles east of Calexico to 5 miles northwest of Somerton. These storms are moving north at 50 mph.
The primary hazard is wind gusts up to 40 mph, which could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Additionally, torrential rainfall is occurring and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive through flooded roadways.
Affected locations include Yuma, Somerton, Holtville, Algodones Dunes, Gordon's Well, Andrade, Winterhaven, Glamis, Bonds Corner, and Wiest. This statement is effective immediately and expires at 10:15 PM UTC on October 10, 2026. Stay alert for threatening weather.
