Residents in Parker Valley, Gila River Valley, Palo Verde Valley, and Chuckwalla Valley must take immediate precautions as an Extreme Heat Warning is now in effect. The National Weather Service (NWS) Phoenix AZ issued this warning on October 7 at 11:52 PM MST, effective until October 8 at 8:00 PM MST.

Dangerously hot conditions are expected, with afternoon temperatures reaching between 103 and 106 degrees. This poses a major heat risk, with potential for heat cramps and exhaustion, escalating to heat stroke without intervention. The NWS advises rescheduling strenuous outdoor activities to early morning or evening. Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing and ensure adequate hydration.

For those working outdoors, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas. If someone is overcome by heat, move them to a cool, shaded location immediately. Heat stroke is a medical emergency—call 911. Consult county officials for information on public cooling shelters in your area.
