Lake Emma Township Board Approves Permits, Sets Annual Meeting Date
The Lake Emma Township board convened for its regular meeting on January 8, 2025, addressing permit approvals and scheduling future events, a typical gathering for the community situated near the recreational hubs surrounding Park Rapids.
Chairman Allen Kreemer, Supervisors Mike Hart and Jim Horejsi, Treasurer Cheryl Bredeson, and Clerk Jake Erholtz were present for the meeting, which began at 6:00 p.m.
Following the approval of the December meeting minutes, which included corrections moved by Mike Hart and seconded by Jim Horejsi, the board reviewed the treasurer's report. Cheryl Bredeson presented the report, and Jim Horejsi moved to approve it, with Mike Hart providing the second. The motion carried unanimously.
The board also unanimously approved paying the bills, with a motion made by Mike Hart and seconded by Jim Horejsi.
In new business, two Conditional Use Permits (CUP) were brought before the board. The first, for a new business located at the corner of Highway 34 and 87 – a busy intersection often frequented by those heading towards Potato Lake – was deemed in order. Mike Hart moved to approve the permit, seconded by Jim Horejsi, and the motion passed. Clerk Jake Erholtz will provide the permit to the applicant.
A second permit, for a land division on சொர்க்கம் Lane, was also found to be in order. Jim Horejsi made the motion to approve this permit, with Mike Hart seconding. The motion carried, and Jake Erholtz will deliver the permit to the applicant.
Looking ahead, the board set the date for its annual meeting for March 11th at 7:00 p.m. The township election will also take place on March 11th, with polls open from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., a familiar date for residents who also participate in other local elections throughout Hubbard County.
The meeting adjourned at 6:34 p.m. following a motion by Mike Hart, seconded by Jim Horejsi.
