Wind Advisory Issued: Gusts Up to 40 MPH Expected Until 8 PM Tonight
A Wind Advisory is in effect until 8:00 PM CDT tonight for parts of Arkansas, Mississippi, Missouri, and Tennessee, with gusts up to 40 mph expected.
Residents across a wide area including portions of East Arkansas, North Mississippi, Southeast Missouri, and West Tennessee should prepare for gusty winds today. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Memphis has issued a Wind Advisory, effective immediately, October 10, until 8:00 PM CDT tonight.
North winds are expected to be 10 to 20 mph, with gusts potentially reaching up to 40 mph. These conditions can make driving challenging, particularly for high-profile vehicles. The NWS advises using extra caution on the roads.
Impacted counties include Clay, Greene, Craighead, Poinsett, Mississippi, Cross, Crittenden, St. Francis, Lee, Phillips in Arkansas; Dunklin, Pemiscot in Missouri; DeSoto, Marshall, Benton, Tippah, Alcorn, Tishomingo, Tunica, Tate, Prentiss, Coahoma, Quitman, Panola, Lafayette, Union, Pontotoc, Lee, Itawamba, Tallahatchie, Yalobusha, Calhoun, Chickasaw, Monroe in Mississippi; and Lake, Obion, Weakley, Henry, Dyer, Gibson, Carroll, Benton, Lauderdale, Tipton, Haywood, Crockett, Madison, Chester, Henderson, Decatur, Shelby, Fayette, Hardeman, McNairy, Hardin in Tennessee.
Gusty winds may blow around unsecured outdoor objects. Tree limbs could be blown down, and isolated power outages are possible. Residents are instructed to secure any outdoor items that could be moved by strong winds. This advisory is issued by the NWS Memphis TN.
