A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for northeastern Armstrong County, southeastern Carson County, southern Gray County, and northwestern Donley County in the Texas Panhandle until 6:15 PM CDT today, September 29.
The National Weather Service in Amarillo reports that at 5:10 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Groom, approximately 14 miles east of Claude, moving northeast at 25 mph. The primary hazard is 60 mph wind gusts, which may cause minor damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
Affected locations include Groom and Lake McClellan. Residents in these areas should move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building for protection. Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and flash flooding is possible. Do not drive vehicles through flooded roadways.
