Palatka Water Lead & Copper Test Kits Now Available
Staff Writer
May 24, 2026
PALATKA, FL — The city's Water Plant began distributing water sampling kits to residents on May 19 to test for lead and copper in tap water, fulfilling requirements under federal and state regulations.
Residents who receive a kit should collect a sample from a cold-water tap used for drinking. The best samples come from early morning, before any water use, or evening after returning home from work. For accuracy, use a kitchen or bathroom faucet that has gone unused for at least six hours.
Once collected, residents can hang the kit on their door for pickup. Water Plant staff will collect samples daily.
