PCSD Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month: “Unidos, Somos Más — Together, We Are More”
Putnam County School District is proud to announce its celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, observed annually from September 15th to October 15th. This year's theme, "Unidos, Somos Más — Together, We Are More," underscores the strength and richness that Hispanic culture brings to our community and the nation.
Throughout this month, Putnam County schools will be hosting a variety of events, activities, and educational initiatives designed to honor and recognize the history, culture, and contributions of Hispanic Americans. These celebrations aim to foster understanding, appreciation, and a sense of unity among students, staff, and the wider community.
"Hispanic Heritage Month is a vital opportunity for us to acknowledge the profound impact Hispanic Americans have had and continue to have in shaping our society," said Dr. Mary Beth Jackson, Superintendent of Putnam County School District. "Our theme, 'Unidos, Somos Más,' truly reflects the spirit of collaboration and the collective strength that diversity brings to Putnam County."
Schools across the district will be engaging students in age-appropriate activities, including cultural presentations, historical explorations, art projects, and musical performances. These efforts are intended to provide students with a deeper understanding and appreciation of Hispanic heritage.
Putnam County School District invites all students, families, and community members to participate in and support the various Hispanic Heritage Month events taking place in our schools. Let us come together to celebrate the vibrant culture and invaluable contributions of Hispanic Americans.
