Rick Rosenfield, a former federal prosecutor and co-founder of California Pizza Kitchen, will speak Monday, Oct. 5, at the Gardens Branch Library. Library Director Douglas Crane will lead the discussion, focusing on Rosenfield's book, "The California Pizza Kitchen Story: How Two Federal Prosecutors Changed the Way America Eats Pizza." The event will explore how passion for pizza and entrepreneurial spirit contributed to the creation of the restaurant chain.

The discussion is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the Gardens Branch Library, 11303 Campus Drive in Palm Beach Gardens. Attendees will learn about California Pizza Kitchen's inception and growth into a global brand. The conversation will cover the restaurant's early innovations in pizza and dining experience.

Rosenfield and his former law partner Larry Flax opened their first restaurant in Beverly Hills in 1985. The book and talk will address the challenges they faced, including securing funding, managing expansion, and navigating partnerships.

Complimentary pizza and drinks will be provided by the California Pizza Kitchen at the Gardens Mall, while supplies last. A question-and-answer session will follow the interview, and copies of Rosenfield's book will be available for purchase and signing. The event is sponsored by The Friends of the Palm Beach County Library System.
