Main Street Closure Tonight for Pavement Assessment

Staff Writer
May 16, 2026
Main Street Closure Expected This Evening for Pavement Assessment

Pagosa Springs residents should prepare for a brief but complete closure of a section of Main Street this evening, Friday, May 16, 2026. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) announced that a portion of Main Street will be closed in both directions for a maximum of 10 minutes, starting at approximately 6 p.m.

The closure will affect the stretch of Main Street between the Courthouse and the 1st Street Bridge. During this short period, a contractor will conduct a pavement smoothness assessment. This assessment involves mobile equipment traveling westbound in the eastbound lane.

WW Clyde, the contractor, will have traffic control flaggers and work trucks positioned to block intersections for the duration of the 10-minute closure. This traffic control measure also means that the contractor's equipment will run the red light at Hot Springs Boulevard while traffic is blocked.

Drivers planning to use Main Street around 6 p.m. should anticipate this temporary disruption and consider alternative routes if possible. The closure aims to facilitate necessary infrastructure evaluation with minimal impact, given its short duration.
