Annual Area Activities

Annual Area Activities Txoko Ona Basque Dance TxokThe annual Basque Dance held at the Txoko Ona Basque Center in Homedale is held on the 2nd Saturday in March each year. In the past years, this dance had been held at the old Armory building. It has now been held at the new Txoko Ona building on South Main Street in Homedale, and the Badiola Arena on Hwy 95. Along with the historic and traditional dances performanced by all the age groups of Basque dancers, there are live music performances all evening. Chorizos, hot dogs, pop, beer and wine are the usual food fare at the event. There are also silent and live auctions going on throughout the evening as a fund raiser for the Basque Center. It's a great time to buy some homemade flan, chorizos or Basque bread! Lots of socializing and even a game of Muse (Basque card game) or horse shoes might be found. A great family event to which the entire community is invited! Photo Credit: Tarah Uranga Easter Egg Hunt The Annual Easter Egg Hunt, sponsored by the Homedale Chamber of Commerce, is held the Saturday before Easter each year. It provides a fun, safe environment for local kids ages 10 and under to hunt for candy-filled Easter eggs and win prizes sponsored by Homedale businesses. Demolition Derby The Homedale Lions Club holds its annual 4th of July Demolition Derby at the Owyhee County fairgrounds in Homedale, Idaho. Fireworks after the derby and a live band will be performing. Gates open at 4:30 and grand entry is at 6:00. Open seating so get there early for the best seats. Tickets sold at NAPA in Homedale or Marsing. For more information visit www.homedalelionsclub.com. Photo Credit: Kaleb Hotchkiss Owyhee County Fair & Rodeo The Owyhee County Fair and Rodeo is a celebration for those near and far that showcases all the county has to offer. Plenty of things to do and see for young and old such as children’s activities, entertainment, food and merchandise vendors, livestock and agriculture competitions, midway rides and much, much more. Fair competition starts Monday with nightly rodeo competition Thursday through Saturday during the first week of August. For more information, visit www.owyheecountyrodeo.com or contact the Owyhee County Fair office at 208-337-3888. Harvest Festival The Homedale Chamber of Commerce Harvest Festival is an annual community celebration that brings together local businesses, artisans, food vendors, live entertainment, and families for a fun-filled fall tradition in Homedale. Held at Riverside Park and throughout the downtown area, the festival highlights the spirit of small-town community while supporting local organizations and businesses. With music, shopping, food, and seasonal activities, the Homedale Hometown Harvest Fest has become a favorite event for residents and visitors alike. Nightlight Christmas Parade The Night Light Christmas Parade, sponsored by the Homedale Chamber of Commerce, is held the last weekend in November to kickoff the holiday season. The parade is one of Homedale's signature events. The town's residents line Idaho Avenue from one end of town to the other as floats and parade entries of all types make their way through town tossing candy and goodies to the children. The most anticipated float each year is one carrying Santa Claus. After the parade, Santa hands out candy canes to the children.
