Ottumwa 2026 Street Repair Program Starts Monday
Ottumwa begins its 2026 Asphalt Street Repair Program on Monday, May 18, with work starting in the West Finley Avenue and Skyline Drive areas.
Contractors will mill existing pavement, patch surfaces, repair curbs, and apply new hot mix asphalt. Weather may affect the timeline as crews progress through the project over several weeks.
The program covers West Finley Avenue (1900-2000 blocks), Skyline Drive from West Finley Avenue to Albia Road, Lake Drive, Richmond Avenue (1600, 1800-1900 blocks), Gladstone Street, Greenwood Drive from Wildwood Drive to McKinley Avenue, McKinley Avenue from Greenwood Drive to West Finley Avenue, and Minneopa Avenue from West Finley Avenue to Albia Road. Wildwood Drive will be paved after water main construction finishes.
Some streets will have limited access during construction, though residents can reach their homes by day's end. The city warns that large equipment will operate throughout the area and congestion may occur.
Trash collection, recycling, and mail delivery will continue, though minor delays are possible.
