The Targeted Violence and Terrorism Prevention Program at the Weber-Morgan Health Department has launched a new public awareness billboard campaign aimed at empowering community members to recognize warning signs of potential violence and take positive steps to support a safer community. The campaign’s message — “A Safe Community Starts With You: Learn How to Be an Engaged Bystander” — highlights the important role everyday residents play in preventing violence before it occurs. The billboard encourages people to learn how to safely recognize concerning behaviors, support individuals who may be struggling, and connect them with appropriate resources. The billboard, now displayed throughout Weber and Morgan counties, directs residents to WeberMorganHealth.gov, where they can find information about bystander awareness, prevention resources, and ways to get involved in community safety initiatives. “Preventing targeted violence is a community effort,” said Emma Blanch, health educator with the Targeted Violence and Terrorism Prevention Program. “Most acts of violence are preceded by warning signs. By helping community members understand what those signs may look like and how to respond appropriately, we can intervene earlier and help connect people with the support they need.” The campaign focuses on the concept of the engaged bystander—someone who notices concerning behaviors and takes responsible action such as checking in with a person in distress, seeking guidance from trusted community leaders, or connecting individuals with professional help when needed. Through education and awareness, the Targeted Violence and Terrorism Prevention Program aims to strengthen community resilience, promote mental and behavioral health resources, and reduce the risk of violence. Residents are encouraged to visit WeberMorganHealth.gov to learn more about how to be an engaged bystander and to access prevention resources available throughout the community. "The purest ballet scene in all of Bournonville’s works, that is how one could describe the divertissement The Dancing School of the ballet Le Konservatoriet. Here, it is the dance itself that is the point of the story. By creating a plot that sets off in a dance studio, Bournonville has made it possible to show off his delicate and very demanding exercises in their most purified form on stage. It is not just any dance studio but a dance studio at the Conservatoire in Paris. Bournonville knew these ballet classes from his own youth in the 1820's where he studied at the Conservatoire with the renowned Auguste Vestris as one of his teachers. Creating the ballet of Le Konservatoriet - or a Marriage by Advertisement for the Royal Danish Ballet in 1849, Bournonville assembled his youth memories in a cheerful and harmless vaudeville ballet. Bournonville Workshop with the Masters will perform Konservatoriet in Ogden on June 13th under the direction of Dinna Bjorn and her fellow masters, Eric Viudes, Henning Albrechtsen, and Karina Elver. SPECIAL NOTES: No babes in arms. All sales are final. SCHEDULE: Doors open 30 minutes before showtime. There will be one Intermission. Door times are subject to change. PARKING INFORMATION: View our parking map here. The closest and most accessible parking is the garage behind the theater on Kiesel Ave and costs $6.00. This garage is wheelchair accessible.
