Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Lucas, Mahaska, Marion, Monroe, Warren Counties

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for parts of Lucas, Mahaska, Marion, Monroe, and Warren Counties until 12:30 AM CDT, with quarter-sized hail and vehicle damage expected.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for parts of Lucas, Mahaska, Marion, Monroe, and Warren Counties, effective immediately until 12:30 AM CDT on October 9. Residents in these areas are advised to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building for protection.

The National Weather Service in Des Moines issued the warning at 11:49 PM CDT on October 8. At 11:48 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Knoxville Municipal Airport, or near Knoxville, moving southeast at 30 mph. This storm is capable of producing quarter-sized hail, with damage to vehicles expected.

Affected areas include northeastern Lucas County, western Monroe County, southern Marion County, southwestern Mahaska County, and southeastern Warren County. Specific locations impacted include Oskaloosa, Knoxville, Melcher-Dallas, Knoxville Raceway, Lake Red Rock, Lovilia, Beacon, University Park, Bussey, Lacona, Harvey, Leighton, Williamson, Hamilton, Melrose, Marysville, Knoxville Municipal Airport, and Elk Rock State Park.
