Templeton Middle School Students Advance to State History Day

More than twenty Templeton Middle School (TMS) eighth graders will compete April 25 at the state level of the National History Day academic enrichment program held at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Finalists were selected following National History Day (NHD) presentations held for regional level judges at Concordia University in March. This year’s theme was ‘Revolution, Reaction, Reform in History.’ TMS 8th grade social studies students have been working on the NHD projects for several weeks.  “This project allows students the opportunity to do a deep dive into a topic of their choice centered around an annual theme established by the National History Day organization,” explains Templeton Middle School Social Studies Teacher Rhonda Watton. “Students are able to collaborate with others if they want, they are able to discover a variety of primary sources, interview others and really be able to become an expert historian on their topics.”  National History Day is an academic enrichment program for students in grades 6-12. Students present their conclusions in a written paper, a performance, an exhibit board, a documentary or a website.  Templeton Middle School students and their projects advancing to the state level are: Individual website:  Kaitlyn Pape – “Invention of the Telephone” Seanleander Hemanand – “Biological Weapons” Rayyan Zia – “Atomic Bomb; Manhattan Project” Group website: Olivia Anderson and Reese Pauli – “Reactions to Vietnam” Conner Phillips, Ekaksha Tyagi and Darsh Ekshinge – “Nike and MJ partnership” Individual exhibit:  Owen Barnekow – “The Little Bohemia Raid” Daniel Viera-Hernandez – “Construction Reform” Mahitha Vijjapu – “Orcas in Captivity” Group exhibit:  Prisha Rohilla and Sanika Kulkarni – “Theory of Evolution” Lena Miller and Madeline Ernst – “The Tylenol Murders” Naomika Kiran and Aditi Patel – “How did AI change the specificity of the human mind?” Paper: Gurshan Kailey – “Art in Renaissance” Zoha Sharief – “Tuskegee Airman” Individual documentary: Chloe Chen – “Salem Witch Trials” Diya Jerine – “Mathilde Franziska Anneke – A Founding Mother” Delainy Wilson – “The Tylenol Murders” Group documentary:  Saanvi Sahoo and Millie Broughton – “Path to Extinction: George Cuvier’s Scientific Revolution” Cameron Riemer, Kayden Hanko and Ryan Petroff – “Dale Earnhardt and the Safety of NASCAR” Alekhya Lingam and Anvi Shukla – “Europe Reacts to Social Darwinism: King Leopold Justifies Bleeding the Congo” The post Templeton students to compete in state National History Day  appeared first on Hamilton School District.

Hamilton High to Present 'The Drowsy Chaperone'

" Hamilton High School Drama Society presents “The Drowsy Chaperone” May 1-3 at the Hamilton Fine Arts Center (HFAC). Shows begin at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. for the Sunday performance. With the houselights down, a man in a chair appears on stage and puts on his favorite record: the cast recording of a fictitious 1928 musical. The recording comes to life and The Drowsy Chaperone begins as the man in the chair looks on. Mix in two lovers on the eve of their wedding, a bumbling best man, a desperate theatre producer, a not-so-bright hostess, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs, a misguided Don Juan and a chaperone more focused on herself then the bride, and you have the ingredients for an evening of madcap delight. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for students and seniors. Tickets may be purchased at www.hamiltonfineartscenter.com or at the box office 30 minutes before each performance. The HFAC is located at W220 N6151 Town Line Rd., Sussex. The post Hamilton drama presents “The Drowsy Chaperone” appeared first on Hamilton School District."
