A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Eastern Orleans Parish, specifically impacting Lake Catherine, by the National Weather Service (NWS) New Orleans, LA, effective immediately from October 8, 2026, at 4:03 AM CDT until 12:15 PM CDT. Residents in these areas should complete all evacuation and flood preparations now.

Life-threatening storm surge flooding of 3-5 feet above ground is possible from Friday morning until Saturday morning. Evacuate immediately if orders are given to avoid being cut off from emergency services. Areas around Venetian Isles and Lake Catherine may become inaccessible.

Winds are forecast to reach 20-30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph, posing a limited threat for damage to porches, awnings, and mobile homes, along with scattered power outages. Secure loose outdoor objects now. Hazardous driving conditions are possible on bridges and elevated roadways.
