A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Eastern Orleans, specifically Lake Catherine, by the NWS New Orleans LA, effective immediately as of October 8 at 10:01 PM CDT. Residents in surge-prone areas should prepare for life-threatening storm surge.

The primary threat is life-threatening storm surge, with a potential for 3-5 feet of inundation above ground through Saturday morning. Evacuation efforts and flood preparations should be completed before conditions become unsafe. If evacuation orders are issued for your area, leave immediately.

Wind speeds are forecast to be below tropical storm force, with peak gusts of 20-30 mph, gusting to 45 mph. Little to no additional wind impacts are expected.
