Eastern Orleans Parish, including Lake Catherine, is under a Tropical Storm Warning issued by NWS New Orleans LA, effective immediately as of October 8 at 10:01 AM CDT. Residents must prepare for life-threatening storm surge.

A storm surge of 3-5 feet above ground is possible from Friday morning until Saturday morning. Evacuation efforts and flood preparations should be completed before conditions become unsafe. If evacuation orders are issued for your area, leave immediately to ensure access to emergency services.

Wind speeds are forecast at 15-25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph, remaining below tropical storm force. However, conditions may still be gusty. There is little to no potential for flooding rain or tornadoes. This warning expires at 6:15 PM UTC today.
