Ninth Judicial Circuit Overhauls Warrant Signing for Orange, Osceola Counties with New Electronic Procedures

Orlando and Kissimmee residents should note that the Ninth Judicial Circuit, which covers Orange and Osceola Counties, implemented new warrant signing procedures on May 13, 2024. These changes discontinued the previous 'walk-in' warrant signing process, aiming to improve efficiency for law enforcement and judges.

Chief Judge Lisa T. Munyon issued a memorandum on May 10, 2024, outlining the new system. The updated procedures focus on encouraging and promoting electronic submission, review, and signing of warrants. This shift allows judges more time to thoroughly review affidavits and warrants, ensuring public safety through efficient processing.

The new system also aims to handle emergency situations effectively. Emergency duty responsibilities for the duty judge, after hours, on weekends, and holidays, remain unchanged. This ensures that critical situations continue to receive immediate judicial attention.
