Heat Advisory Issued: Stay Cool and Hydrated Through Wednesday
A Heat Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service for our area, with temperatures reaching 94-100 degrees from Saturday at 11 AM PDT through Wednesday at 10 PM PDT.
A Heat Advisory has been issued for our community by the National Weather Service (NWS) Sacramento. Residents are advised to take immediate precautions to stay safe from high temperatures expected to reach 94 to 100 degrees, with low temperatures in the mid-60s to low 70s.
This advisory is effective from 11 AM PDT Saturday, October 3rd, and will remain in effect until 10 PM PDT Wednesday, October 7th. The affected areas include Western Shasta County Foothills (1000-3000 ft), South-Central Shasta County including Redding Metro, Eastern Shasta County Foothills (1000-3000 ft), Sierra Nevada of Tehama-Butte-Plumas Counties (1000-3000 ft), Western Tehama County Foothills (1000-3000 ft), Northern Sacramento Valley in Tehama County, Central Glenn County including Interstate 5, Eastern Glenn County, Butte County Below 1000 ft, and Western Glenn and Colusa County Foothills (1000-3000 ft).
The NWS warns that hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses, especially for individuals without effective cooling or adequate hydration. To protect yourself and others, drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, and stay out of the sun. Please check on relatives and neighbors. When outdoors, wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing and try to limit strenuous activities to the early morning or evening hours. Be aware of the symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke and take immediate action if they appear.
