A Wind Advisory is in effect until Sunday, October 11, at 6:00 AM MDT for multiple Utah valleys and mountain areas, with gusts up to 50 mph expected; secure outdoor objects and drive with caution.
Residents across the Great Salt Lake Desert and Mountains, Tooele and Rush Valleys, Eastern Box Elder County, Northern Wasatch Front, Salt Lake Valley, Utah Valley, Cache Valley/Utah Portion, Wasatch Back, Bear Lake and Bear River Valley, and Sanpete Valley should secure outdoor objects and use extra caution when driving as a Wind Advisory is now in effect.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Salt Lake City has issued the advisory, which began today, October 10, at 4:01 AM MDT and is expected to continue until Sunday, October 11, at 6:00 AM MDT. South winds are forecast to be between 20 to 30 mph, with gusts potentially reaching up to 50 mph.
These strong winds could make driving difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles and those towing trailers. The NWS also warns that gusty winds may blow around unsecured outdoor objects and could lead to isolated power outages. Please secure any loose items in your yard or on your property. Drive with increased awareness and be prepared for sudden gusts.
