Wind Advisory Issued for Portland Metro Area: Secure Outdoor Items Now

A Wind Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Portland OR, effective from 3 AM to 11 AM PDT Friday, September 25. Residents are advised to secure outdoor objects and use extra caution when driving.

South winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph are expected. This advisory covers the Tualatin Valley, West Hills and Chehalem Mountains, Inner Portland Metro, East Portland Metro, Outer Southeast Portland Metro, West Central Willamette Valley, and East Central Willamette Valley in Oregon. In Washington, the North Clark County Lowlands, Inner Vancouver Metro, and East Clark County Lowlands are also included.

Gusty winds may blow around unsecured objects. The NWS also warns that tree limbs could be blown down, and a few power outages may occur. Due to full leaf cover on trees, wind damage may occur at lower wind speeds than usual.

Drivers, particularly those operating high-profile vehicles, should exercise extra caution. Secure outdoor items such as garbage cans and other objects that could easily be displaced by the wind.
