Orange County Special Needs Hurricane Registry
Orange County officials are urging families with special needs members to register for the county's People with Special Needs Program before hurricane season intensifies.
The PSN Registry identifies residents who require additional assistance during storms, including those dependent on electrical medical equipment, caregivers or transportation. Tom Daniels, the county's PSN Program Manager, said the registry ensures evacuation plans for residents who cannot safely remain home during hurricanes or power outages.
Special needs shelters provide transportation, medical staff, electricity for medical devices and oxygen for respiratory patients. Residents must bring their own caregivers and medications.
Eligible residents include those with physical, cognitive or sensory conditions such as oxygen dependency, dialysis needs or mobility limitations.
Families can register online at the People with Special Needs Registry or call 3-1-1 or 407-836-3111.
