Oakland residents now receive direct town notifications through the Notify Me® service. The system allows individuals to subscribe to various lists and receive updates via email or text message on topics ranging from town commission meetings to hurricane alerts.
The Notify Me® platform aims to keep the community informed about local happenings. Users can sign up for alerts from categories including the Agenda Center, which lists upcoming meetings for boards like the Appearance Review Board and Planning & Zoning Board. The Calendar section provides information on events at the Arts & Heritage Center and Oakland Avenue Charter School.
For timely public safety and emergency information, the News Flash section offers updates on COVID-19, hurricane preparedness, and Police Department announcements. Residents can also subscribe to town news and event updates, as well as specific Oakland Avenue Charter School announcements.
Signing up is straightforward. Interested individuals can visit the town's website, enter their phone number for text messages, and select desired lists. Users can manage their profile information and unsubscribe from lists at any time. Residents should ensure their spam blockers allow emails from [email protected] to receive notifications without interruption.
