World Leaders Remember 9/11 Victims on Anniversary

On September 11, 2026, global leaders marked the anniversary of the 2001 attacks, remembering those lost and the courage displayed on that day.

French President Emmanuel Macron posted on X that the event "remains etched in the world’s memory." He added, "We do not forget the lives cut short, nor the courage of those who risked everything to bring aid. To the victims, the families, the American people, I express France’s tribute and its brotherhood."

British Prime Minister Andy Burnham also marked the anniversary, acknowledging that "time may pass, but I know the grief is still felt just as deeply today." He asserted that "terror still knocks on the door of democracy, but the United Kingdom and the United States stand together in memory of those we lost, and in defense of the values we cherish." Burnham posted on X that "hatred and fear did not have the last word on 9/11," noting that terrorists sought to divide America but "our response was clear: those who seek to destroy our way of life will never win." Sixty-seven Britons died in the attacks.
