Oldsmar bolsters severe weather readiness with two new WeatherSTEM stations for real-time data

Oldsmar has significantly enhanced its severe weather preparedness by implementing two WeatherSTEM stations. These stations provide real-time weather data, crucial for the city's response during tropical events and other severe weather conditions.

The city approved an agreement for the two WeatherSTEM stations in March 2022 with the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM). This initiative gives residents and city officials immediate access to localized weather information, aiding in decision-making and safety measures.

One WeatherSTEM station is located at Veterans Memorial Park, specifically gathering coastal weather-related data. The second station sits at Richard Rogers Park, focusing on inland data. This dual placement ensures comprehensive coverage across different geographical areas of Oldsmar.
