Stafford County Social Services seeks sponsors and teams for its 16th Annual Golf Classic for Stafford’s Kids. The tournament occurs Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Augustine Golf Club, 75 Monument Drive, Stafford, VA. Social Services is also soliciting donations of golf-related items to raffle. This fundraiser provides for the needs of adults and children who are not covered by state or federal funding. “Participants and sponsors for this tournament will be helping to provide for children, families and seniors who need a little extra help,” said Director of Social Services Michael Muse. “We invite everyone to play golf and directly impact the local community.” One of the best ways to support the tournament is to become a sponsor. There are several different sponsorship opportunities: tournament sponsor, corporate sponsor, community sponsor, golf cart sponsor, hole sponsor, raffle item donations and goody bag sponsor. Golfers can also sign up individually for the tournament or play on a team. The cost to play includes 18 holes of golf, green and cart fees, and a barbecue lunch. Contributions may be tax-deductible. Please consult with your tax professional on the potential deductibility/amount of this contribution. Proceeds from the event go directly back to the community through various programs and events, including an annual foster family Kings Dominion Day, assistance with prescriptions, diapers and formula, warm clothing, grocery store gift cards, supporting teens aging out of foster care and needing help setting up their new life, and more. The department hosts an annual holiday program where the public can donate food and presents. Participants receive a holiday meal at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Additionally, they receive presents at Christmas. The golf tournament proceeds help purchase items not donated to the Holiday Program. Individual player sign-ups are $100, including play, fees and lunch. The cost is $400 for a foursome. Play starts with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. on June 3, 2026. To sign up for the tournament or to sponsor, please visit: www.staffordcountyva.gov/golfclassic. Contact Jodi Long with questions at [email protected].

Crystal River KOA Hosts Care Camps Big Weekend to Support Kids with Cancer

Every year, KOA Campgrounds across North America participate in Care Camps Big Weekend. When you stay at any participating KOA campground on Friday, May 10 and Saturday, May 11, you get Saturday night for just $20!* That’s right, stay Friday & Saturday night, and Saturday is only $20! *Not valid with any other discounts. Participating locations only. May not be valid for all site types. Call the campground for details. Since 1984, KOA has supported Care Camps, a network of medically supervised camps where kids with cancer can go to just be kids. It’s a place where they can forget about their illness for a while and have fun. These camps also provide a place for families to connect and support each other. KOA owners and campers like you have raised over $17 million to support Care Camps. These camps offer a true escape – a place where kids fighting cancer can leave behind the isolation of hospital rooms and medical treatments and get back to what being a kid is all about. Best of all, it’s a place where they can connect with others who know exactly what they’re going through. Over the May 10-12 weekend, campers across North America will be helping kids with cancer attend these special camps. Every dollar raised during Care Camps Big Weekend will help send these kids to camp. So come on out and enjoy a weekend of camping and help make a difference in the life of a child with cancer! Book your site today!
