Residents in Dixie County and southeastern Taylor County are advised to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building immediately due to a Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued by the National Weather Service in Tallahassee.

The warning is in effect until 11:00 PM EDT tonight, October 9, 2026. At 10:20 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Horseshoe Point, approximately 17 miles southwest of Cross City, moving north at 60 mph.

The primary hazard is 60 mph wind gusts, as indicated by radar. Impacts include potential damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Areas affected include Cross City, Horseshoe Point, Suwannee, Horseshoe Beach, Tennille, Shamrock, Clara, Shired Island, Cross City Airport, Old Town, Guaranto Springs, Hines, Jonesboro, Eugene, Fletcher, Yellow Jacket, and Fanning Springs.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect for the Big Bend Florida area until 6:00 AM EDT.
