Roeland Park Police Get $24K Traffic Safety Grant
The Roeland Park Police Department will use a $24,000 Kansas Department of Transportation grant to fund overtime for traffic enforcement.
Officers will target violations that cause crashes: speeding, distracted driving, impaired driving, and failure to yield to pedestrians. The grant funds patrols beyond regular staffing without affecting other public safety operations.
KDOT awards traffic safety grants statewide to reduce fatalities and serious injuries. Grant recipients must report enforcement activities and outcomes to the state. The grant period runs one year.
Roeland Park serves about 6,700 residents in a 1.5-square-mile area near major thoroughfares in northeast Johnson County.
