First Presbyterian Church Sunday Worship Invitation

God frequently performs mighty miracles using tiny, seemingly inconsequential people and acts. As we explore the Parable of the Mustard Seed today, we’ll look at the examples of David and Jesus. At the beginning of their stories, they were both nobodies, from unimportant places. Then, God anointed them and through them, God did mighty acts. David became the most renowned and revered of the kings of Israel. Jesus became the savior of the world. How might God be sowing seeds around you or through you? If you are in the Walnut Ridge area, please join us for in-person worship any Sunday morning at 11 a.m. Support the ministry of FPC with a financial gift today. Donate Now

Texas Gas Pipeline Company Supports Environmental Education Program

"Coastal Bend Bays & Estuaries Program: Protection & Education Go Hand-in-Hand Across the Coastal Bend region of Texas, students are getting their hands dirty – learning about the importance of protecting delicate ecosystems, one salt marsh at a time. For nearly 25 years, the Coastal Bend Bays & Estuaries Program (CBB&EP) has been working to protect and restore the ecological health of the bays and estuaries in the Coastal Bend area. From removing invasive species to planting native grasses, the organization works to ensure these vital habitats remain healthy and resilient for generations to come. But CBB&EP’s work extends beyond conservation. The organization also places a strong emphasis on education, offering a variety of programs designed to immerse students in nature and foster a sense of environmental stewardship. "We believe that education is key to creating a sustainable future," said Dr. Rosario Perez, Executive Director of CBB&EP. "By giving students the opportunity to experience nature firsthand, we can help them develop a lifelong appreciation for the environment and inspire them to take action to protect it." Texas Eastern is proud to support CBB&EP’s education efforts through funding for field trips, classroom presentations, and curriculum development. These programs reach students of all ages and backgrounds, providing them with the knowledge and skills they need to become environmental stewards. One of CBB&EP’s most popular programs is the "Bay Explorers" field trip series. These trips take students on guided tours of local bays and estuaries, where they can learn about the plants and animals that call these habitats home. Students also participate in hands-on activities, such as seining for fish, collecting water samples, and planting native vegetation. "The Bay Explorers program is a great way for students to connect with nature and learn about the importance of protecting our bays and estuaries," said Michelle Horine, CBB&EP’s Education Coordinator. "The students always have a lot of fun, and they leave with a better understanding of the role they can play in protecting the environment." In addition to the Bay Explorers program, CBB&EP also offers a variety of classroom presentations and curriculum resources. These programs are designed to help teachers integrate environmental education into their existing curriculum. CBB&EP also partners with local schools to develop customized programs that meet the specific needs of their students. "We are committed to providing teachers with the resources they need to educate their students about the environment," said Dr. Perez. "We believe that by working together, we can create a generation of environmental stewards who are equipped to protect our planet.""
