Tropical Storm Hanna Forms, No Florida Threat

Tropical Storm Hanna has formed in the central Atlantic Ocean, forecasters report. The system is not expected to impact Florida or make landfall anywhere in North America or Europe.

Channel 9 meteorologist Daniel McFarland stated that Hanna is forecast to remain a weak tropical storm through early Wednesday before diminishing into a tropical depression. While warm ocean waters provide energy, significant wind shear will disrupt the storm's organization and prevent it from strengthening into a hurricane.

Hanna is predicted to stay far enough from the Atlantic coast that it will not generate ocean swells or other effects in Florida. Residents in Ocoee will not experience any weather impacts from this storm.

The system may encounter more favorable atmospheric conditions in the North Atlantic after weakening. McFarland indicated Hanna could potentially strengthen again this weekend if conditions allow it to reorganize. Channel 9 meteorologists will continue to monitor the storm and provide updates.
