Lauderdale Lakes has launched an Air Conditioning Repair & Replacement Program to assist eligible homeowners. The initiative, which opened Oct. 1, 2026, provides financial aid for necessary AC system repairs or replacements.
Assistance is contingent on meeting eligibility requirements, application review, and fund availability. The program aims to help Lauderdale Lakes homeowners with aging or malfunctioning AC units, offering one-time financial relief.
Grant benefits vary based on the AC unit's size and type. For a 14 SEER 2-ton or 3-ton split system, assistance can reach $5,000. A 14 SEER 3.5-ton split system may receive up to $6,000, while a 3.5-ton package system can get up to $6,500. Larger 14 SEER 4-ton and above package units may qualify for up to $10,000.
The exact assistance amount will depend on an individual evaluation of the home's square footage and cooling needs.
To qualify, applicants must reside in Lauderdale Lakes, own their primary residence, and ensure the property has no code violations. Applicants also cannot own multiple properties. Other requirements may apply.
Required documentation includes a driver's license or state ID, proof of property ownership, current property tax statements, a recent mortgage statement or proof of satisfaction, and at least three comparable contractor estimates. The lowest bidder's contractor license, general liability insurance, and business tax receipt are also necessary.
Residents can apply through the City's OpenGov Application Portal, selecting "Housing Assistance Programs." Applicants must review all program guidelines and gather required documents before submission.
Submissions are accepted online starting Oct. 1, 2026. City staff will review applications for completeness and eligibility. No repair or replacement work should begin before receiving official City approval. Approved applicants will be notified before proceeding with an approved contractor.
All work requires City staff review and approval. Expenses incurred before approval or unauthorized work completed after approval will not be reimbursed. Reimbursement is limited to work completed within program guidelines and the approved scope.
