Oakland AutoPay System for Utility Bills Now Available

Staff Writer

Oakland launches AutoPay system for utility bills

The Town of Oakland launched a new AutoPay system today, allowing residents to pay utility bills automatically using debit cards, credit cards or checking accounts. The system replaces the town's previous ACH payment process, which ended June 15.

Residents can enroll through July 8 to avoid manual payments for the next billing cycle. Those who miss the deadline must pay by alternative methods: mailing checks, using drop boxes at town facilities or paying in person at town offices.

Payment fees vary by method. E-Check AutoPay costs 25 cents per transaction; one-time E-Check payments cost 75 cents. Credit and debit card payments carry a 2 percent processing fee plus 25 cents. Mailing checks, using drop boxes or paying with cash or check in person incurs no fee.

To enroll, residents visit the town's online billing portal, select Set Up Online Access and provide their account number, CID number from the water bill, email address and password.

Residents can also pay by card through an automated phone system at 1-888-238-2151, which accepts E-Check payments as well. After the July 8 enrollment period, residents can enroll by the 8th of each month, with payments due by the 10th. For questions, call the town office at (407) 656-1117.
