Reserve Program

Reserve Program Reserves A Reserve Police Officer with the North Palm Beach Police Department is an individual, who comes from a different background, not necessarily law enforcement and has a strong sense of community and service to their fellow citizens. Volunteering Reserve officers are police officers who volunteer their time to assist full-time officers, by increasing police presence during emergencies, special events, and in supplementing regular staffing needs. They are qualified and trained to handle the same work as a full-time officer; however, reserve officers do it as unpaid volunteers. Reasons People Volunteer Here are a few reasons that someone would volunteer to put their life on the line as a police officer. The rewards are many! Some reserve officers are former full-time police officers who still enjoy working in law enforcement. Others are individuals who want to see if a job in Law Enforcement is right for them before they take up a new career, and others are simply regular men and women who want to make a difference in their community and realize that serving as a Police Officer is one of the noblest ways to give back. Requirements for Candidates Before a candidate is considered as a reserve officer, they must meet the following criteria: Have successfully completed a Florida Basic Law Enforcement Recruit class and hold an active Florida CJSTC law enforcement certificate. Have a valid Florida driver's license and good driving record. Be in good physical and mental condition. Be of good character and free of criminal convictions. Live within reasonable proximity to the Village of North Palm Beach. Be financially stable. Be able to supply their own duty weapon, belt, and holster. Be able to give at least 24 hours a month in service to the department. If you believe you meet the high standards to be a Reserve Officer with our department, we would like to hear from you. Please email Captain William Minton.
