A Heat Advisory has been issued by the NWS San Francisco CA for multiple Bay Area and Central Coast regions, warning of temperatures up to 105°F from Wednesday morning until Thursday night; residents must prioritize hydration and avoid leaving children or pets in vehicles.
A Heat Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) San Francisco CA, urging residents to take immediate precautions as dangerously hot conditions are expected. This advisory is in effect from Wednesday, October 7, at 8:42 AM PDT until Thursday, October 8, at 10:00 PM PDT.
Affected areas include the Sonoma Coastal Range, North Bay Interior Mountains, North Bay Interior Valleys, San Francisco Bay Shoreline, East Bay Interior Valleys, Santa Cruz Mountains, Santa Clara Valley (including San Jose), Eastern Santa Clara Hills, East Bay Hills, Southern Salinas Valley/Arroyo Seco and Lake San Antonio, Santa Lucia Mountains and Los Padres National Forest, and Mountains of San Benito County and Interior Monterey County (including Pinnacles National Park).
Temperatures are predicted to reach the mid-90s to near 105 degrees Fahrenheit. Mild overnight temperatures with weak onshore flow will limit relief.
The NWS stresses the critical importance of hydration. Drink plenty of water and offer water to vulnerable individuals. When outdoors, wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing and limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening hours. Be aware of symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke and take action if they occur.
Under no circumstances should young children or pets be left in unattended vehicles. Car interiors can reach lethal temperatures rapidly. Check the backseat before leaving your vehicle.
