A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for the Noatak Valley and South Slopes of the Western Brooks Range, effective from midnight Thursday night until 10:00 AM AKDT Saturday, October 10th. The National Weather Service in Fairbanks, AK, issued the warning today, October 7th, at 1:17 PM AKDT.

Residents in affected areas should prepare for heavy snow, with total accumulations of 10 to 14 inches expected, particularly in higher elevations. Winds will also be a factor, with occasional gusts reaching up to 45 mph.

These conditions could make travel very difficult, and areas of blowing snow may significantly reduce visibility. If travel is unavoidable, the National Weather Service advises carrying an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
