Quinn Newton Named Muhlenberg College Men's Basketball Coach
Muhlenberg College named Quinn Newton its 25th head men's basketball coach. Newton led the University of Maine at Farmington to a 23-6 record and the North Atlantic Conference championship in 2025-26, the winningest season in program history.
In the NCAA Division III Tournament, Newton's Beavers upset 10th-ranked Montclair State in the first round and advanced to the second round for the first time since 2010. Over two seasons at UMF, Newton compiled a 36-19 record and coached five all-conference players, including the NAC player of the year.
"From the very beginning of the process, it was clear that Muhlenberg is a special place," Newton said in a statement.
Before taking the UMF head coaching job in 2024, Newton served as an assistant coach at Bates College, the University of Southern Maine, Hampden-Sydney College, and Huntingdon College. At Hampden-Sydney, he helped develop the roster that reached the 2024 NCAA Division III championship game.
Newton graduated from St. Joseph's College of Maine in 2018, where he started all 102 games and scored more than 1,000 points. He earned a master's degree in sports and athletic management from Southern New Hampshire University in 2022.
Athletic Director Lynn Tubman said Newton will build on the program's playoff history. Muhlenberg played in a Centennial Conference playoff tiebreaker game in 2024 and competed for a playoff berth late in the most recent season.
Newton lives in Farmington, Maine, with his wife, Crystal, and sons Levi and MJ.
