Residents in North Central Plymouth County, Southwestern Sioux County, Southern Lincoln County, and Northeastern Union County are advised to seek immediate shelter indoors due to a Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued by the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls.
This warning is in effect from 12:35 AM CDT until 1:15 AM CDT today, October 9.
At 12:35 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Hawarden, moving southeast at 25 mph. This storm is capable of producing ping pong ball-sized hail, which can cause injury to people and animals outdoors, and significant damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles.
Locations impacted by this severe thunderstorm include Hawarden and Alcester around 12:40 AM CDT, Ireton around 1:00 AM CDT, and Craig and Maurice around 1:10 AM CDT. Chatsworth is also in the path of this storm.
