North Port Opens Sandbag Stations for Predicted Storms

North Port residents can pick up sandbags to prepare for potential flooding and other storm-related issues as heavy rains are predicted.

The city has established a sandbag pickup station at Larry Thoennissen Athletic Fields, located behind the George Mullen Activity Center at 1602 Kramer Way. Residents will find sand, bags and shovels available. Sandbags are not pre-filled.

Each household is limited to 15 sandbags. Pickup is free for North Port residents during operational hours, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Predicted heavy rains and stormy conditions could lead to flooding, land erosion, debris and pollution in beaches and harbors, and structural damage to public and private property.
