The Permitting Section acts as the first point of contact for general permit requirements, ensuring applications are complete before approval or referral to the Plans Review Section. Contractors must hold appropriate licenses and register them with Charlotte County to streamline the process and avoid delays.

Plans Review ensures construction plans comply with the Florida Building Code and local ordinances, including zoning, drainage, and floodplain management. The section collaborates with departments like Public Works and Utilities to confirm projects meet all regulatory standards. Approved plans then return to the Permitting Section for final processing and permit issuance.

Following permit issuance, inspections occur at various construction stages. Request inspections through an automated system, text message using SelectText, or online. The Permitting Section issues a Certificate of Occupancy or Completion after all required inspections receive approval.
