Storm Warning Issued: Mariners Urged to Seek Safe Harbor Immediately

NWS Boston/Norton MA has issued a Storm Warning for Nantucket Sound, Vineyard Sound, Buzzards Bay, Rhode Island Sound, and Block Island Sound, effective immediately. Mariners in these areas should remain in port, alter course, and/or secure their vessels for severe conditions.

The warning is in effect from 2 AM Friday, September 25th, until 8 PM EDT Saturday, September 26th. Northeast winds of 25 to 35 knots with gusts up to 55 knots are expected, alongside seas reaching 7 to 10 feet. These conditions pose significant hazards, including the potential to capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.

This Storm Warning impacts coastal waters in Massachusetts (Nantucket Sound, Vineyard Sound, Buzzards Bay) and Rhode Island (Rhode Island Sound, Block Island Sound).
