Easton Schools Get 250 Devices via State Broadband
Easton Public Schools received 250 internet-enabled devices through the Massachusetts Broadband Institute's Connected and Online Program, a statewide initiative distributing nearly 27,000 devices to schools, libraries, and nonprofits across Massachusetts.
The U.S. Treasury's Capital Projects Fund financed the program. Superintendent Dr. Lisha Cabral said the grant addresses budget constraints. "Receiving a grant that directly supports our students, their families, and staff matters," Cabral said.
Lívia Ramos, the district's director of instructional technology, secured the grant. She said obtaining device grants has grown harder. "This award lets us bridge the gap in digital equity and puts essential technology into the hands of our students and families," Ramos said.
The program distributes laptops, tablets, and desktop computers to help residents access education, workforce training, health care, and other services online. The Massachusetts Broadband Institute uses state and federal funding to expand internet infrastructure and address barriers including affordability and device availability.
