North Charleston Emergency Preparedness Forum

North Charleston hosts first countywide emergency preparedness forum

North Charleston's Public Safety Department brought together 30 emergency management professionals on February 24 for the first Charleston County Emergency Preparedness Forum.

Charleston County Emergency Management Director Justin Pierce led the forum, which examined the region's response to a recent winter storm and identified ways to improve interagency coordination, communication and public notification systems.

"This was a valuable opportunity for the Town to evaluate our strengths during crisis operations and to further strengthen our partnerships with fellow emergency management agencies across the county," Public Safety Director Dr. Craig Harris said.

The forum drew particular attention when Harris shared the professional platform with his daughter, Sieanna Harris, who is completing an internship with Charleston County Emergency Management. She graduates May 8 as a Presidential Scholar from South Carolina State University and plans to pursue a career in emergency management.
