Sarasota County voters who requested them are beginning to receive their vote-by-mail ballots for the Nov. 3 General Election. Supervisor of Elections Ron Turner announced that the initial mailing includes more than 77,000 ballots for domestic voters.

Last week, elections officials mailed ballots to registered military and overseas voters who had submitted requests. Turner noted that 53,000 Sarasota County voters used vote-by-mail in the Aug. 18 Primary Election and anticipates higher participation for the general election.

Turner reassured residents that Florida's vote-by-mail procedures remain unchanged. The November election will offer voting by mail, early in-person voting, and Election Day voting.

Residents have until 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22, to request a ballot be mailed. Submit requests online at SarasotaVotes.gov/VotebyMail, in person at any of the three elections offices (Sarasota, Venice, North Port), or by phone at 941-861-8618. Voted ballots must be returned by mail or in person and received by the supervisor of elections office no later than 7 p.m. on Election Day to be counted.

Voters must sign the certificate on the return envelope. This signature should match the one on file with the elections office. Voters can update their signature on file by submitting a new Florida Voter Registration Application.
