Asbury Seminary Appoints Two Biblical Scholarship Trustees
Asbury Theological Seminary appointed Robert R. Duke and Ronald C. Walborn to its Board of Trustees on June 9, adding leadership in biblical studies and ministry education.
Duke serves as Chief Curatorial Officer and Director of the Scholars Initiative at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C. He spent nearly two decades as a tenured professor of biblical studies at Azusa Pacific University, where he held senior academic roles including dean of the School of Theology and interim associate provost for faculty affairs. An internationally recognized scholar of the Dead Sea Scrolls and Hebrew Bible, Duke co-edited "Dead Sea Scrolls Fragments in the Museum Collection" and authored the "Biblical Hebrew and Aramaic Dictionary." He holds a doctorate in Near Eastern Languages and Cultures from UCLA and a master's degree from Jerusalem University College, where he graduated summa cum laude as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar to Hebrew University.
Walborn directs the School of Ministry at Church of the City in New York City and previously served as executive director of Urban Initiatives at Asbury Theological Seminary. Before that, he spent 15 years as vice president and dean at Alliance Theological Seminary and the College of Bible and Christian Ministry at Alliance University in Nyack, New York, where he guided accreditation processes, launched online programs, and partnered with the Vietnamese Biblical and Theological Seminary to establish Vietnam's first master's-level seminary degree. He holds a Doctor of Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary and a Master of Divinity from Alliance Theological Seminary. He also served as lead pastor at Risen King Community Church in Redding, California.
Asbury operates its main campus in Wilmore with extension sites in Memphis, Orlando, Tampa, and Tulsa, plus online degree programs.
